Today I had the pleasure of taking some photos at an event. It was a beautiful luncheon for breast cancer survivors and their supporters. When I arrived I discovered that another local photography studio was providing portraits, "no biggie" I said to myself. I will just take the photos that I was asked to and enjoy a nice lunch with friends. While photographing a speaker on stage one of the other photographers approached me from behind. I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned around. He asked "who are you working for?" When I told him who, he said "who is THAT?"
"THAT" I said, "is the manager in charge of this event". He then went on to tell me that "WE are the official photographers for this event and you need to not interfere with what we are doing!"
I told him we could speak with the organizers of the event but he didn't seem to feel that was necessary.
Today I received validation to what I already suspected, not every home town photography studio operates cameras because they love photography, but more because they love money and big business-no matter who they squash on their journey to the top.
The luncheon was very beautiful and nicely put together, I am glad that I went. At the end of her presentation our speaker shared a quote from Mother Teresa, for me it applied perfectly to my experience with someone who is not interested in the art of photography and sharing their talent but rather a name, a business, a status- and of course, money.
I am glad to share my talent/art/passion no matter what bully might be lurking around the corner.
"CHEESE!"

My Girl

I thought for sure that I would have another boy, simply because I knew this would be our last baby. When I found out she was a she....absolute bliss. Then came the horrible feelings of "what if something goes wrong, what if something happens, it all seems too right". Wow, she is almost a year now and she is amazing. A beautiful, well mannered baby, super laid back. Couldnt ask for more! I am so blessed, an amazing husband, an adorable little boy and an adorable little girl! Glad to be alive!
